Ice’s Early Life
Ice Cube was born on 15th of June,1969 in Crenshaw, California, in the United States. He is the son of Doris, who worked as a hospital clerk and custodian and Hosea Jackson, who was a machinist and UCLA groundskeeper. He has an elder brother named Clyde. They are also known to have had a half-sister, Beverly Brown, who was murdered when Ice was just 12 years old. Ice Cube had grown up on the Van Wick Street in the Westmont section of South Los Angeles. He had completed his schooling from George Washington Preparatory High School in Los Angeles. When he was in the ninth grade, he had started to write raps after being challenged by a friend who was nicknamed “Kiddo”. Later on, he also attended William Howard Taft High School in Woodland Hills, California. After writing and recording several songs with N.W.A, he moved to Arizona in order to enroll in the Phoenix Institute of Technology in 1987. He received a diploma in architectural drafting in 1988. Keeping architecture drafting as his backup plan, he went back to Los Angeles and rejoined N.W.A.

In 1986, Ice Cube initiated and formed C.I.A, his first rap group. Later in 1987, along with Eazy-E and Dr. Dre, he formed the gangsta rap group N.W.A. Being the lead rapper, he had written some songs of Dre’s and most lyrics from Eazy’s lyrics in Straight Outta Compton. N.W.A had created quite the controversy as their lyrics were often violent and threatening to attack abusive police and innocent civilians too. In 1989, Ice Cube left the N.W.A as there was dispute about Eazy-E and Jerry Heller managing the group. He teamed up with some New York artists and the launched his solo rap career. His feature debut in acting was in Boyz n the Hood, which was directed by John Singleton, where he played Doughboy. The drama was named after a rap song written by Ice Cube. The 1995 comedy film, Friday, was co-written and starred by Ice. In 1998, he made his debut as a director with the film The Players Club. Over the years, he has made an appearance in over 40 films including Three Kings, Barbershop series, 21 Jump Street, 22 Jump Street, and Ride Along. He was also the executive producer of most of these films.
